    Default Agony of defeat

Ever seen a day when you been killing the Crappie then take someone and they pull a Houdini ? Today was one of those days . Weatherman said low wind but mostly rough . Been chasing open water fish with livescope and stroking them till today . We found very few . My buddy kept 11 after 5 1/2 hours of searching . Burned up for very little . I would not accept defeat and stayed another 2 1/2 hours to catch 20 more . Too hot to push that hard to catch fish don't even want . Crappie roam so much it is hard to believe . They must be good at hiding or just up and move great distances . Think next few days they will get a break atleast from myself with temps forecast in triple digits !

If we could get on good fish every time we wanted to. There would be very little fish left to fish for

Exactly why I wouldn't want to be a guide. I do have the saying down - "You should have been here yesterday!"

I'm holding out for cooler temps, yesterday my day off I stayed home and repaired 3 crappie rods and a catfish rod for a buddy. Next day off will mow yard early and then organize tackle and new line on reels, hopefully next week is lake time.

Or the other classic - “10 minutes before you got here and 15 minutes after you left”! Never fails!

this is why I rarely tell folks about a hot bite on whatever lake , sent them to meet a skunk is how that goes more often than not

is why they call it fishing not ketching. usually you take someone when you have been slaughtering them on your lonesome and they don't ketch diddly. But this spring when had the crappie signal sent up by crappie guru had the fortunate days where my buddies who left their lake to fish with me got into them bigtime as well and dang it feels so good watching them ketch up at the end of the day after I had filled my stringer with slabs already! then they did as well next morning without me. Even my buddy bymo who usually is the kiss of death on the bite came all the way up from FL after salivating over my pics got a glorious day and the spawn bite hung on for lil longer for him!! THAT is truly something.
