What a let down and a real bunch of responsibility ducking, JD. Hope you can find an accessible spot for you to fish!

I don't get to the lake very often this year due to my led and ankle. I am limited on where I can fish due to mobility issues, so There is a couple places I go I can get to fairly easily. The first place I went to was by the old coal power plant in Springfield, Mo. They closed it down a couple years ago and rumor has it it will be torn down. Didn't even wet a line as the access point below the dam, my easy to get to fishing area the water was just covered with a thin coat of oily looking slime from the plant. On to my second area at the bridge at lake McDaniel, which is owned by the city for drinking water. They have determined No floating craft of any kind in the lake, no wading, no swimming. This is where I usually go as it's close and convenient to the house, and easy enough access. It's also where I caught my personal best crappie at, The sad news is, it seems a certain other crowd has determined they can Magnet fish the area too. Usually in the evening and into the night. unfortunately they scare the bejesus out of the crappie using he bridge for structure, and then leaving what ever junk they pull up, either metal trash of sorts or the sunk structure some kind soul had placed their as an attractant for the crappie. Game warden says nothing they can do because it's city property???, sheriff says city property not our jurisdiction, and the city police says, we don't have a patrol car in the area because the property is actually in the county...So, looks like it's a catch 22, and I'll need to find some where else. I do know of a couple spots, just uncomfortable on my ankle to ride that far right now...Times will get better I hope.

I hate magnet fishing.
What could you possibly catch that would be worth anything magnet fishing? Why?

Sorry to hear of your favorite spots getting squashed. Central Florida is so money oriented that many places I fished in my teens are now fenced or developed or just changed in general due to people’s stupidity and lack of respect. Hope your mobility increases steadily and solid. Can’t enjoy much outdoors without a good foundation of some sort. You’re a good fisherman and I know you’ll find someplace that you can get a few fish now and then. Finding them brings some excitement in itself.

Guess their looking for something of value, I have no clue, but seriously doubt they'll find anything but rusty junk...Sent from my SM-G892A using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

Tools, guns, anything magnetic they can pull up. Most places it's the rule if you haul it out you haul it off. Seems like a lot of work. I metal detect some. I would rather find places I can find relics. I don't go too often. I don't like digging that much especially when it is hot outside.

magnet fishing , that there is desperate stuff would be my thoughts ,scrappers have a tendency to be less than desirable folks for the most part .
in these parts they are most likely buying things they shouldn't with the cash from the trash .
one thing for sure , lots of public access points go away daily due to folks disrespecting the ease of access .
