    Default Southern pro tubes

My 11 year old is really starting to get into crappie fishing with me and was wanting to get him a assortment of his own jigs(so he'll stay out of mine!)looking at the southern pro tubes as they seem to be inexpensive but are they also "cheap". Not much experience with tubes on my part but not wanting to spend more than necessary right at the beginning. Thanks.

Tubes would not be my first choice unless you’re vertical jigging.

I’d get him a couple packages of BGBS.

Or, even simpler — some marabou-and-chenille jigs.

Southern pros are the ol' standby tubes. They are what I bet 95% of tube fishermen use, and almost exclusively what I use. I use the lil hustler 1.5" the most. They have some nice kits for sale that have good colors in them, they come with some jig heads and a lot of tubes in a nice plastic box for $25. I would suggest one of those and then a trip to a store to fill out what other colors he likes that are missing. The 10pk of tubes are only a buck fifty most places so he can try out a few different colors for pretty cheap, then once he finds his favorite colors you can get 50pk for $3 at grizzly jig. Grizzly Jig Company - 1.5" Lit'l Hustlers

But yes, for 1.5" tubes I would suggest the southern pro litl hustler, they are very durable and well priced.

Southern Pro tubes are soft and tear easy. They also have excellent flutter if you pull some of the tail off. Its all I have used for years. Look at some of the photos in Bees posts and see what they catch.

I use them. It’s one of the few companies that make a smoke sparkle jig color.
    Huge selection and fast service.
The quality is equal to the bigger name brands. And definitely quality better than the bass pro house brand jigs I’ve used.

Southern Pro makes good plastics,I've used Lil Hustler tubes for years and have been happy with them. The BPS squirt tubes are good tubes as well,as are Midsouth Super tubes. The Midsouth tubes are alittle bigger and to me they seem to last a bit longer.
