I usually will either do one or the other. My thoughts are when tipping the jig with anything natural and I catch something then it was the bait I got it with and not the jig.

My brother-in-law swears that when crappie or bg fishing one MUST tip the jig with wax worm, meal worm, bemoth, etc. Now I on the other hand believe that jigs alone or worms alone will catch fish fairly equally but never need to use them in tandem to have success. I also believe that a shot of the beloved sauce will duplicate whatever the worm has to offer when used on a jig.
Your thoughts ?

Therefore you would have had the same result using a hook and the worm without the jig?
That is my point to him.

I say it’s whatever a person has confidence in.
If anyone knew for sure there would be a line 100 miles long just to touch the hand of the “Wise Man Crappie Dude or Dudette”. Lol
Just my opinion for sure!!!

I would think the wax worm would make the fish hold onto the jig a little longer. It may increase your hook up ratio.
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
them lil fish nostrils will often sniff out a fake if they have time to look it over and give it the sniff test

I just use some "Slab Sauce." Hard to get Waxies around here and as others said the 'Gills love them and will beat the Crappie to your offering. If you are fishing for Crappie, just put some sauce on the lure.

Does the sauce really help? I've tried it and can't tell if it does at all.

Sometimes they want some more scent! Waxworm, minnow, or even crappie nibbles. Powerbait crappie scent is good too, havent had a chance to try slabsauce yet
