Was bored sunday and went to the dealer's website where I bought my boat. Same boat, same package, only difference is its a 22 instead of a 21 like mine. $8k more than what mine was priced at.

Been lookin at boats for a few years now, was getting serious before the pandemic hit and wiped out inventories, then this inflation hit and wiped out a lot of my disposable income. Just got a promotion that came with a 14% raise and figured it was time to get serious again. Looking for something I can fish out of and take the family out in, the SeaArk Easy 200 caught my eye. SeaArk is one of those manufacturers that doesn't publish MSRP or have any type of "build and price" option on their website. I searched and searched trying to get an idea of what they go for to figure out it it would even be an option. I found a couple used 2017 and 2018 models with 150 horse outboards on the back priced in the 30's, the cheapest 2017 model I saw was around 32k and the most expensive 2018 model was around 39k. In both cases the posting was over 60 days old so who knows how long ago they were available at that price, but still I was thinking new one would probably be somewhere in the high 40s at most since depreciation does not seem to be a thing as far as used boat prices typically go. I mean, I often see used boats less than 5 years old listed at just a few thousand off what a new one would go for. Well boy was I wrong, I finally found a dealer that has some in stock and has the pricing on their website, they are asking 73k for a new one. A 20ft aluminum boat for 73k, the world has lost its mind.

Well as the saying goes “It is what it is”. No one likes it but this is going to last for quite a while. We can complain about it all we want but that ain’t gonna change it. Of course this is a 2 edge sword. I’m getting ready to sell my boat due to impending move. I’ll probably get the same price….or maybe a little more….as when I bought it new 7 years back. Of course when I get to my new town I’ll buy a trout boat with a jet drive….but it will cost me more than what I get from my boat sale. I bought a new vehicle a year ago. I got lucky and did not have to pay the so called “Market adjustment” that they are tacking on new vehicles. Before I made the purchase several family members advised me to wait. Prices will be back down in a year….well it has been a year and prices are not any cheaper….they’re higher. Well I couldn’t wait as my vehicle had 270 thousand miles and the turbo and differential had leaks. If one is young I guess you could wait….but I ain’t young. I ain’t happy about none of it but I want to enjoy my so called golden years so I just pony up.
