I was gonna buy a boat right when the Covid kicked in thinking I would get a good deal. Boy was I wrong. Prices have shot up on new and used boats. I have a 17ft Nitro that has been sitting a few years due to a blown motor. With the price of new boats I'm gonna just get another outboard for it to fish out of. I have been fishing out of a little tricked out Pelican Predator for the last few years and it keeps me off the banks.

It’s a nonsensical market right now and is the same in the auto world. I’m driving almost 5 hours to trade my 7 year old truck for way more money than it was worth last year in on a newer one with more options. Supply and demand. Dealers can’t keep inventory on the lot so they’re paying stupid prices for used boats and cars just to keep afloat. People are making fun of folks listing their used rigs on Facebook marketplace for dumb prices until they see that guys are actually getting what they’re asking out of a lot of these used boats. If you don’t have to make a move right now and can fish out of what you’ve got, I’d hold off until some of this market turmoil subsides and these huge price fluctuations level out.

If it's paid for, keep it, modify it, make it user friendly.
I think you've already got the better boat.
If it's a launch issue, put a step kit on that dude.
Stick steers are great at rest, doing one thing, but you are about to give up some storage space, floor space and a smooth ride. If you fish in the winter the wind can be brutal up front not to mention a cold rain.
Those are the reasons I sold my G3 stick steer.

Fwiw you may be shocked at wait times for a new outboard.

Everything is up. The price on new vehicles is crazy too, you can't buy many new trucks for under 45-50K now. That is nuts. I bought a Express X-19 pro 4 years ago and sold it this last month for $500 less than I paid for it. It was in excellent shape but I will say that is the first time I had a boat for 4 years and did not lose a lot on it.

Sounds like you have a great boat, I would seriously look at different accessories to make handling the boat easier for you.

Whatever you decide, I hope the Best for you and that you can get back to fishing. What Happened To New Boat Prices? Are Used Boats Selling At Premium Prices Too?

I'm pretty frugal and no way would I spend what boat's are going for today. In my younger days you could go out and buy a brand new boat with say a 6hp motor for far less than what the motor would cost today. I look at the newer boats and think, boy that is nice, but then I see the price tag OOP'S!. Looked at used boats quite a bit before I found mine. 15" Jon boat with a 20hp 2014 Honda outboard. $3000 and I figure I bought the motor and they threw in the rest. Good deals are out there but can be hard to come by! been so long since I've seen say a 12' boat for sale anywhere new I'm not sure they even make them anymore. I thing prosperity causes that. If someone can justify a $20K boat they won't buy one for under $1K, just ain't gonna happen and the market goes away!

I just happened to look at the dealer website where I bought my boat. I paid 32,999 for my 2021. Same boat with the same exact options is now 37999 for a 2022.

Inflation coupled with supply and demand

Saw a 20 year old pontoon with a new motor. 90 hp 4 stoke. Listed for 27 thousand said it needed seats and carpet. Wow
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

They rolling out 14-17 footers as fast as they make em down south along with 9-25 hp motors. But I hit the scale at 250lbs and so do most of the guys I fish with. And I do love company when I fish. I dropped some pretty good coin on new boat...the last used purchase I made hurt my feelings and I didn't want to buy somebody else's problems this time.
