Default Rank catchability of 2nd half of year

June has passed, which is the first half of the year, which can include some great winter fishing (around here) in January, then the pre-spawn in Jan-Feb and then the spawn months of Feb into March. Some of the best catching to be had.

You seasoned crappie fishermen, what do you think of the 2nd half?

I don't have as much crappie experience year around like some of you do. Around here, I am not sure about these months above. Could you comment? For instance, around here, I think in Nov, the crappie begin bunching up for winter and winter fishing starts getting good. As for winter, I have had some terrific fishing in cold months, the colder the better -- cold, sleet, snow. So, I'm saying that Nov and Dec can be real good around here. Jul-Oct, I'm not so sure of. What do you think?

For me fall is when shooting docks gets going good. When it cools down you also have less boats on the water.

Toughest months of the year for me are July, August, September, and October.

Coldest temps and the nastiest weather is when I have caught my best fish

Meaning what? Your worst or best months? The post isn't clear, just curious for the sake of the thread.

Yep, as I said above, have had some great winter fishing. I suppose crappie is the only fish I know that bite so well with cold, nasty weather. I wonder why that is!

Who knows. My personal best came on a below freezing night with the wind ripping. Probably 1 foot waves on the lake. I thought that 2pound 14 ounce crappie was a bass when the mouth came out of the water. It was nasty weather for sure.

Too hot here for me to fish the summer months. I was raking in 40 or more a morning up to 2 weeks ago (lots of short fish). Now it's just too blame hot and humid for me so I'm done. Then deer season opens in Sept so I hunt thru mid Jan. Then it's CRAPPIE TIME all over again!!!

Its hot out there but July and August the fish concentrate up on the thermocline, and once you find them it’s easy pickens.
