Meaning I would take that period over any other to consistently catch crappie.

No such thing as a bad month for Crappie . Just find the fish and what presentation they want . Livescope sure has made it easier for the ones that do fish all year .

I see that you are in Oregon. I suppose that is very different from waters elsewhere; at least, it is from my perspective; I only know deep south.

if you like them really hard bites late summer early fall maybe , but when they go on the transition trail it is sometimes difficult to out guess where they are in those travels .
summer is hard to beat for numbers in my opinion , the bites might be really soft , but the numbers can be ridiculous .
fall is fun for me due to more consistent milder temperatures and larger average fish sizes .
nothing beats a big fish hammering a jig in my opinion .
    but .....
success is relative my friend , sometimes i go to ketch lots , sometimes i go to ketch big , sometimes i go to ketch a few dinners and a dozen fat ones is a success .
there are days when i top a hundred or more and most are shorts and dont keep any , but in my mind it was still a success .

Sure, go ahead; now, how about giving some commentary on that, inquiring minds want to know!
