The biggest slabs of all times typically get off my jigs way before the hand modeling and selfies take place

ok. I am officially jealous. They did not include mine. It is still swimming down at Mosquito Lake in Northeast Ohio. I was in my mid twenties and I know it was at least a 2.6 pounder Ketchn because that beast eyed me and took off. She saw the hot sauce and fryin pan on the bank and said "See ya...I don't want to feed ya!"

I had to leave it because the mosquitoes were all over me. LOL

Been eye to eye with a pretty fair number of take your breath away big old crappie beast fish , some still remain engraved in my brain for eternity .
One or 2 even STILL haunt me , a ridiculous sized black crappie I thought was for sure a sand bass before it came up on the surface came undone about 4 feet from the net one day out in open water, someone very near me spouted foul language on that one ,might have been me , the action blurred in a time warp kind of thing and to be sure it made the next fish that was well over 2 look like a throw back .
A white I thought was for sure a monster black bass came up about 7 foot off my rod tip on another adventure ,while I was on the bank in the fall one year, pulled so hard it wasn't funny and had that over 5 lbs of fish feel and when it surfaced ......well lets just say right before it escaped me , there was a little leakage down low as week gazed upon each other eye to eye for a half second or 2

What I've said for years is when a man's fist look small and don't go past a crappie gill plate you know it's a good'un.....
The ole hold the fish way out in front of you can be deceiving but that fist tells the story.....
I'm looking for my 1st 5lb crappie all the time but.....

Boy wish we had anything like that around here. I can't imagine how much fun fish like that would be on UL gear! I caught a 13" crappie last year and before that biggest I ever saw was 11". Oregon is not known for big crappie! In fact I'm not sure but it may be illegal to admit you fish for them in this state! Dang those are nice!
