Default Hot temps does not always mean slow bite

Had some friends call saying they would be camping this week. I offered to furnish fish for supper the first night . I searched brush piles and stakebeds with little luck . Ran over the water till I found them scattered in open water suspended above the thermocline . Pitched to them with the new Huckabee Trident 13' three piece jig pole . No problem catching over 100 Crappie using Southern Pro Umbrella tubes as usual purple/chartreuse rigged on 1/8 insert jig heads . Live scoped them one at a time and most suspended 8 to 10' down over deeper water . Kept a mess of 13 to 15'' Crappie and released the rest for another day . Swung by my garden and picked Squash to fry with the fillets . One thing live scope has proved to me is profile and presentation are the keys to getting bit . Color is more to catch fishermen's eyes . I ran into a friend struggling and been trying to get me to use swim baits . Use what gives you confidence and present your bait right on their nose with live scope .

You’re right Nimrod. They gotta eat. Fished my small stream yesterday and when I found the pans they were willing and hungry. I only caught 1 crappie, but hooked 4 smallies. It was blazing hot and humid.

Got to have the latest and greatest baits and colors for sure. I own several plano boxes full just for that reason. Color attracts many things especially fisherman
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

If you followed me for years all I usually carry are ziplock sandwich bags with 2 size insert jig heads 1/8 and 1/4 . Two tube baits by Southern Pro ( 2'' Umbrella tubes in purple/chartreuse and 2.5'' little Hustler in orange/chartreuse ) Nothing but confidence . People argue it won't work but watch them on live scope and size/ profile/ prestation but color is no big deal to my self . Most guys need confidence in whatever they fish with . Some like to carry 10 kazillion baits , the guys selling baits love them . Before livescope I know guys that changed baits 2 dozen times before getting into fish . My theory was they finally found the fish . Now you can put it on their nose . I have found a big fish that would not look at a bait 5 times or more then suddenly smash it . They have to see it and not all fish are going to bite . Check 10 boats on a lake catching and usually all or most will show you a different bait that they are smashing over everything else . Some are so aggressive if water is clear they will
bite almost anything even bare unpainted jig heads Proven this several times
