Hand-tied flies work year round. Jigs are the same.
Hey guys,
I think most of us use soft plastics on the regular but sometimes hand tied jigs out fish soft plastics. What time of year or conditions do you like to use hand tied jigs? I love the craftsmanship.....

I use plastics to shoot docks. If I fish the spawn using float and fly I like hand ties because of the durability. They last a long time during a fast bite

I use hand tied jigs early in the year in cold water, (below 60 F). Just holding the rod provides enough movement of the feathers to attract crappie

I use hand ties when I fish a lake with heavy fishing pressure. Gives them somthing different to look at. I believe the old saying says curiosity killed the crappie. No wait. Sorry but it killed the cat

I use them year round with success. Plus if tying your own can customize to your lake, conditions, etc. plus it’s a blast to make your own then fish them.
I use hand ties and plastics year around . No difference to me . Feed them what they want .
