Still works as good today as it did then
before technology took over the world
we used to find fish with a simple inexpensive graph and place a buoy marker on them
and then jig around said maker
seemed to be very productive way back when ,and still seems to work pretty well as of today .

Yup I do that all the time. Works for me
The old timers used to tell of catching a crappie and hooking a line tied to a balloon to it. Releasing it and using that as a bouy to know where the school was located at.

I'm not a fan of this technique but there is a video of it.
I have not used it either. It seems like it was popular considering all the old timers that take about it

HA! HA! WAYYYYY Back When in my day, was learning from guys like Buck Perry. His structure fishing knowledge was years ahead of The Lowrance Fish Lo-K-Tor Green Box.
Remember fishing from a wooden row boat and using the triangulation method to mark our favorite locations.
Not knocking technology, just sharing some “Way Back When “, memories.

What time is it? IT'S CRAPPIE TIME!
Yeah, my first Crappie fishing memories are sitting in a wooden rowboat, couple poles each over the sides with minnows, tied off to trees that were long time popular spots my Grandpa found to normally be productive. Rented the boat for like $2.50/day, dropped a 10hp Johnson on the back and off we'd go.
Things were a lot simpler back then
