I’ve been using these Velcro cable management straps for 4-5 years to secure rods together and keep a roll in my truck because they’’re so handy to keep around.
Buddy of mine uses bread ties. I have been known to use a piece of soldering wire in a pinch. But is sure like the looks of em

I like the "Rod Butler " from Grizzly jigs . Finally learned to put them on my wrist while fishing . I have left a lot of them in others boat .lol I do like the size packs those come in .
I have always used pipe cleaners. They work well

I have several sizes and use them for a lot of stuff.
They also sell it in roles that you can cut to length.
Pretty cool.

As someone has already mentioned before, the girls hair bands work great and are multifunctional.
Comes in different diameters.
I use the large ones to keep the rain gear rolled up
Can be looped together for longer/odd/double jigs/droppers storage needs.
Can store them on the rod handle butt or over the gearshift lever when not needed.
Cheap and easy.
