There's room in the underspin market for some mid-range reels. Just not a lot of mid range to higher end options out there.

And yeah to be able to just hold the trigger rather than the line while dock shooting would be a plus for a begginner. I know it was for me. And that rod has a lot going for it considering the cost. Stiff with flex if that makes sense.

The one I set up isn't for dock shooting (but I could easily see how you could set up a shorter rod just for that). Mine is on a 10' jigging rod with the reel seat on the butt (like flyrod). That way, I can drop jigs down vertically into brush using just my pinky to trigger the release.

I am guessing underspins are a fairly small part of the market. Be hard to get manufacturers to make better ones unless a market exists to consume them

This can make a great transition reel for beginners and younger folks that want to eventually move up to an open face spin reel.

The wife hooked a bridge with her's. Had the fellas on the other bank standing on their feet to get a better look at here catch. She was putting on a show and cranking away. That little Zebco's drag was screaming. When I walked behind her and told she had hooked a piling. Those fellas let out a sigh when she slacked the line and the glow bobber floated free. They estimated it was at least a 3 pound plus crappie that she lost. All I could holler back. Yeah it must have been a good one.

I bought a Zebco gold micro 33. We'll soon see! There are more expensive ones but I don't have any idea if they are any better based on my Omega ZO3 seeming to be about the same as my 33. And over twice the price.
