Has anyone had any luck fishing before a storm or after? I never have.

Had more luck before than after. Both can be good depending on conditions.

Not a real bad storm, but I have caught fish before rain came thru & then afterwards. Rumbles of thunder and the wind picking up never seemed to bother the fish, but once the torrents of rain & lightning come ... zip ... until things have had time to calm down.

many times the fish go bananas right before a front with a storm hits , sometimes it defies the imagination how fast they bite in those conditions ,not always but more often than not , after a storm is typically much slower for me .

^^ same for me, especially if the bite has been slow a few days before they decide to gorge before the storm

I have had very good luck just before a rain. Outstanding success during a rain. Don't know about during a thunder storm with lightning. Been lightning struck once and that was enough. Figure the fishes will still be there when the fireworks are over.

I’ve had outstanding days before and during a storm as long as there’s no lightning. Just last week I was out in one. Put my rain gear on and when the wind picked up to almost 20mph, put my motor on spotlock and continued to slam the crappies. Wind died down about half an hour later and the fish were still biting good. Finished the day with two limits. My buddy kept all the fish.
