Default What's a good day for you in your area?

Just curious. I've been at it for a couple years now and while I enjoy fishing regardless if I'm catching or not, sometimes I wonder if I'm getting any good at it. An average day for me am is about 15 keepers. When conditions are right I may catch 25-30. Our limit in LA is 50 and I've only done that a couple of times. I actually regret keeping that many, though, as that's just way too much to clean. Also, I fish a couple of times per week so don't need to stock the freezer. Enough for a fresh fish meal per week is plenty enough for our family.

How often do you guys catch your limits and what is the limit in your state?

In KY the limit is determined by which lake you're fishing .... either 15 or 20 per person per day. Some lakes have no size limit, other lakes have a 9" size limit, and some have a 10" size limit.

It's a good day if I catch half a limit, and a fantastic day if I limit out. Neither one of those is a "have to" scenario for me to have a good time.

10 " minimum 15 per day here. 10 keepers is a good day. I went Sunday, caught and released 22. Most measured right at 10. I had not planned to keep any when I went. I need to try the lake to the North of me and see what it has to offer

No minimum length and no limit here in CT on any of the panfish; crappie, bluegill/sunfish, or yellow perch. For crappie only, if I can boat 10 of any size on my relatively short trips I'm a very happy camper. Anything over that is a really good day.

I'm not as skilled a crappie fisherman as everybody else on this board. But each and every trip is a good time and a learning experience for next time.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

25 here in Texas over 10 inches with very few exceptions , one lake has a no minimum length From what I have heard year round ,during the winter months some lakes have a must keep EVERY fish no matter the length until you hit 25 , no release on those lakes during the winter .
Around here in the DFW area most lakes have good numbers of fish that can be managed in short periods of time . I consider any day I get to ketch fish a good day and the days I top 25 keepers a great day . It depends on the time frame with me and the location and what equipment is available .
This coupled with the company I chose for the adventure or lack of ,sometimes just a handful is a good outing . I don't have a hard fast rule on what is a good day on the numbers or size .

On the Mississippi Vicksburg District . C.O.E. lakes 15 over 12 inches is the limit . I was once a must catch limit guy but upon retirement the need to keep more than 10 per day went away . lol unless its nice and cool with a breeze I head in on the 10 count .

Most of this season almost anything! The last two trips out have been great. If I can catch 25-30 in several hours that is a real good time out fish wise. Just getting out is fun! I only C&R on the creek as I don’t think you would want to eat anything from that water.

That's pretty close to my idea of a good day.

What's the reasoning behind keep everything in winter? Mortality rates?

A great day for me is two little ones and a snag of some sort. I really hate the bad days.
Maybe they will bite this one……
