What a story, Ketch! After time has mellowed the PO’d factor you just have to laugh. Trying to climb down an embankment on the stream I of course slipped and rolled down into a rock strewn gulch. Several things - did I break any of myself or my equipment, did anyone see me, and then I just sat down on a rock and laughed at myself. Forgot to tell my wife about it…

she wrapped me up in real clear water about waist deep on a steep bank on a small branch on the bottom , we both stood there going WOW and said oh my golly look at that beast . I said "hold my rod" and jumped in , I actually had to go under water twice before I managed to get a hold of her .
Of course at around 21 I was in that invincible mode and had very little fear of anything in the realm of wildlife and to be sure thought I had her when I came up hugging her with a smile ...the smile only lasted about 2.3 seconds if I remember right
then it was that surprised look ....and then about 3 more seconds until my hyena laughing buddy made it an unhappy moment in time for me

Well the stupidest thing I have seen was actually done by ME last year! It was opening day of a local marsh and me and a buddy were running down the trail to get to a back pond that we always fish. Well there is a cut in the levee that you have to go through and right past the cut you HAVE to turn back to the left (WHICH BOTH MY GPS DEPTH FINDERS, WITH THE TRAIL MARKED SHOWED!), well I decided to try and jump the mud section! Didn't work! Got about 50 yards in before the boat came to a COMPLETE STOP! Well we spent the next 2.5 hours SLOWLY INCHING our way back to floatable water! Then my buddy looks at me and says "Dwyane, you didn't like all this open water over here?!" He also told me that he had always heard of people being in such shock that they couldn't speak but had never experienced it before until that day when he saw that I wasn't going to turn left! Well a couple of guys had stopped by to try and help but there was nothing they could do, the water was too shallow for them to even get to us. We never even wetted a line in that marsh that day and everyone that had, said that the hurricane had messed it all up and there was no grass, no fish and the water was salty! Ended up going to my mom and dad's pond and salvaged the day.

Some drunk teenagers took out ahead of us at the ramp. We took out and a few miles down the road in a curve the kids boat was on one side of the road and the motor on the other side. They were all laughing about it. I bet it wasn't so funny when the kid's Dad that owned the boat showed up.

Don't Fall asleep on a dock in late January. When in college we were fishing a public dock and all of the sudden there was a loud noise and a splash. Turned round to see a man come popping out of the water like a cork taking a big grasp of air. There were about 25 people on the dock that morning and they all just looked at him in either amazement or other thoughts not to be said. Buddy that was with me pulled him out. Not sure how long it took him to warm up but I know he disappeared real quick. Some guy snagged his fishing rod sometime later.

Same lake watched a boat trying to go around a wind blown point North wind 20-30, once he figured out it was to rough he started to shut down, nose of the boat went perpendicular to the water, straight up , dude hammers back down on it and luckily got out of there.

Saw a truck going down the high way pulling a trailer and never tied boat down . It was sliding back . Honked till the guy pulled over . He acted kinda puzzled and pissed till I told him the boat was about to come off the trailer .

Somebody lost one off the trailer in town here yesterday. I don't take the bow stap off until the wheels hit the water. Some folks back down these steep ramps with nothing holding the boat to the trailer
