He was likely fresh out of anchors and the desire to deploy on.

A dumb thing I did myself. I used to take the big bolt out of my swing-away trailer tongue. I always figured it would keep someone from hooking up and stealing my boat. Took off one morning to go fish and pulled out of my drive, up to the stop sign, and BAM! Somebody rear ended me. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw my Ranger partially in the bed of my truck. I literally rear ended myself when I forgot to put the pin back in. I slowly pulled in to a parking lot and just sat there almost in tears as I saw the damage to my truck, $5600 worth. The worst thing that happened to the boat was a paint chip on the trolling motor skeg. It annihilated the aluminum tailgate of my F250.

Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

This last early spring, I got to the lake early with a thick fog on the water. I took my time getting my boat ready as the visibility on the water was near zero and I was in no hurry. Nobody else was in the parking lot when a guy comes by me headed to the ramp. You cannot see the ramp from the parking lot as the ramp is real steep and down the hill. The guy is down at the ramp for several minutes, more than enough time to get his boat launched. I start to wonder where he is, when he comes up the hill to the parking lot soaking wet. My first thought is- he's fell off the dock into the lake or slipped down on the ramp. No, he forgot to put his truck in park when he got out. He is out of breath, soaked to the bone in 40 degree weather, and asks if I can help him. As we go down the hill into view of the ramp, I can se just a little sliver of the top of his pickup truck. I call 911 on my phone and offer to put him into my truck to get warm. He declines the offer.
A deputy comes by and I flag him down to help. I manage to launch my boat and retrieve his belongings that are floating on top of the lake by the dock. By now, a tow truck shows up with an old man driving. The old man refuses to go into the water to hook up the tow cable to the front of the truck, so the poor guy has to go under water twice to hook the cable to his underwater F150. I probably never felt so sorry for a guy in my life!
If it was me in that predicament, I would have never went home. My wife would have killed me!

Now, that is pitiful! All of these stories convince me that my stupid stunts are not so uncommon, so, I suppose that is a tiny bit of comfort! The past few years, officially an old man I suppose (since I, statistically only have a few years left of lifespan), it's gotten worse and it's kind of gotten to me a little bit. If I don't write notes to myself, I am likely to forget. And just doing crap like this is depressing. Like, is it information overload? Is it early alzheimers? Is it just aging? Whatever it is, it sucks. All I can do is all I can do!

Thanks for the pitiful story, lol. Yep, I feel sorry for him, too.
