    Default Garmin

I had an accident with my Echomap 73sv. I got a jig caught in a tree and was pulling trying to break off or turn the jig loose. Well… the jig turned loose from the tree and smacked my screen on my garmin unit on the console. The screen cracked all the way across. I called garmin customer support and they do not repair units nor do they sell screen replacements. They said the screen is the most expensive piece on the unit. The unit still functions but I know when any moisture gets inside it might quit. The reason im posting is I wanted to see if anybody had ran into this problem. Or if there are companies out there that might repair it. The screen being the most expensive piece it might not be worth repairing idk.

Bound to be a way to seal the crack that at least will prevent moisture intrusion

Unfortunately your best option might be to buy a new one from Cabela's with their Fathers Day Sale going on right now, they have them at $450 vs $800. Pretty sure it comes with the GT-54 transducer vs the new GT-56. Which is why they are on sale, they did that with all the models when the GT56 transducer came out.

Have you thought about contacting a windshield company? In most cases they can make the cracks virtually disappear.

I sent in a Garmin fish finder for a bad screen that was 5-6 years old. Back then they offered repairs. They charged me $50 but sent me a new unit complete.

I hate it when those trees start throwing jig heads around.

Might could try a screen protector. They sell them on Amazon. Put it on then possible seal around the edges… that might work.
