    Default Maybe problem solved

Small bass jump and lose the hook up and maybe a trailer hook like I've used with spinnerbaits for bass will prevent it. (Don't have a glue how they do that!) Very large fish after a long fight make the hole bigger and come off without me ever seeing the fish.
Pickerel in one lake are a nuisance and coated floral wire may stop losing lures.

Here are possible solutions that hopefully won't deter panfish strikes:

Certainly worth a try, Spoon. I have lost count of “air mail” return deliveries! I know one problem is that I need to use a nbr 6 hook. But being I’m going after pans I usually use an 8.

I don't think that would work for me as the rear hook could get hooked deeped into the panfish. Last thing I want to do is harm a fish. That would force me to keep it for eating and often I just want to release the catch. Like when my freezer is full.

I much rather have one throw the hook and have one break me off and have the jig left in it

I'll report back how many get gut hooked. If so - no more trailer hook - even if only three are hooked that way.

Sounds like a plan. No, I don’t like to hurt them that way either when all I want to do is get them back in the water.

I’m with Bob, but sometimes they just have to come home for dinner.

Wish I knew how to cook them. Before my friend passed away, he would cook our catch. Still remember the flavor and freshness.
