Not really ...biggest pitfall to scope fishing ( or sniping as I call it ) is the disappointment of seeing fish come up to jig and not bite ! That gets frustrating sometimes however I do get a lot of satisfaction of seeing fish in open water , chasing them down , getting a jig in front of them and of coarse the THUMP ! Actually seeing fish react and chase a lot of times is as fun ( to me ) as the actual catch ( assuming there is a catch ) If you ever fish behind me and my partner you will hear a lot of " here he come , here he come Oooooooooo " It maybe a different mind set then old school blind dipping but I really enjoy it ! Certainly not for everyone and not trying to change anyones fishing style bottom line is I like to catch fish and the new electronics has helped me do that !

For me, now I catch the ones that don't thump. Still get the trill of the thump on the other. When that fish points up at a 45 degree angle, get ready.

The gator could care less you were there. If anything you would be a potential food item.

    That’s my point exactly.
I would freak out I saw one while in a kayak for sure. Not even want to be in any style boat with them around.
Guarantee I wouldn’t lip a fish under those conditions either. Lol

Lol. I’ve had things bump into my legs before. Walked right into a cottonmouth one time. He was laying up in a bunch of vines hanging off a Cyprus tree. Still love it.

That struggling fish would bring it's own unwanted attention.

Locating with a controlled drift and vertical jigs, then slaying them with slip bobbers.
