I hear alot of people saying vertical jigging.....I personally think that is very boring and I practically never do it. I won't even watch a fishing vid on youtube if it's vertical jigging because it's so boring LOL. Cast and retrieve is by far my favorite way to crappie fish....it's not just up and down like vertical jigging in one spot. With casting you have complete control of the bait and it's on you to get it to the right depth, the right place and the right speed. Nothing better then a slow wind of the reel swimming that jig along and YANK! That's what I live for boys!
I am consumed with learning how to dock shoot. I even find myself driving by old barns, house decks and culverts.... imagining where I fire that jig first if I was fishing it. It still startles me at times when I'm fishing a dark nasty spot under an old dock and all of a sudden that line JUMPS. I can't get enough of it. I'm not very good at it but I'm learning. But if I needed a good bucket of fish to eat. I'd pick my 10footer and a submerged laydown in 20 ft of water in late fall vertical jigging. And yeah it still kinda startles me sometimes when the line goes THUMP.

Shooting docks would be first but single pole on timber would be a close 2nd

Pretty much ANY way that I can use to catch them. :ThumbsUp
I got reminded just yesterday how much fun long casting and setting the hook way out there and fighting them back to you can be . Add that one to my never ending list please :highfive
