Default Final pics from my trip to Lake Washington

I wanted to make one more post just to close out my picture story about my trip to Lake Washington this last Spring. You may have read some of my “Best Trip Ever” stories earlier. If not you can find them here: https://www.crappie.com/crappie/list...Slab-s-Stories

Lake Washington is a hidden gem, as is Bait n' Thangs. Go there of course to catch yourself some big crappie, but also see some spectacular views.

Stay at Bait n' Thangs, or nearby Southern Star RV & Cabins. Meet the owner, the Movie Star, and ask him for his autograph. He played a role in the movie “The Dynamiter” and here's a screen shot (see below) of him acting in that movie.

And while you are there, once your arm gets tired of pulling in all those monster crappie, maybe go and shoot some Sporting Clays at Espiranza Outdoors. I went there with the one and only Bill Cooper (radio show host and freelance writer), and had an absolute blast.

Bill Cooper and I about ready to shoot. With my goofy long hair. I tried Billbobs thing, just no haircut at all for nine months. Kept folks away during the virus so it worked out good.

Esperanza Outdoors is a Sporting Club that offers Sporting Clay Shooting and Waterfowl Hunts. They also have cabin and boat rentals with access to Lake Washington. The Sporting Clay set up they have is awesome. You get a remote control to fling the clays from many different machines at 8separate stations. There's even an auto button so they go off automatically and randomly. It's unbelievable, I've never seen anything like it. I have not done this kinda thing in a while, but I did not do too bad. At the first station I think I missed only one pigeon! If you're in the area, you have to check it out.

Our hosts, Whitney and Cameron Dinkins were absolutely wonderful. Cameron even taught me something. I could shoot good, but the pigeons that flew straight across in front of me at speed were very challenging. Cameron kept telling to lead more, and more, and more, and wow. I finally was smacking them. It was hard for me to believe that I had to lead the pigeon by 6 or 8 feet but that made all the difference. Thanks Cameron, now duck hunting might be a little more successful for me. yay

Here's Brad Wiegmann's interview he previously did with Whitney and Cameron if you're looking for more info.

I also want to mention another treat from the Lake Washington area. And it's the food. Dang those Mississippi boys know how to eat. They have some of the best places to eat anywhere. We ate at the original Doe's Eat Place. It was awesome. You could cut your steak with a fork. Unbelievable. The place is literally a dive, a tiny place where you walk through the kitchen to get seated. You know exactly what I'm talking about if you've been there. My mouth is drooling just a bit as I write this, seriously!

Here's Tim Howell (Long Branch Guide Service) eating a 4 LB Sirloin Steak. I think he went into a food induced coma after he was finished. If you're looking for a guide on Grenada Lake, look him up. Longbranchguide.com

Another pic of Tim on his boat. He is all set to stalk Crappie using his big screen TV and Livescope! lol

Guess who is pictured here with me giving us a thumbs up about how good the food is.

We have eaten at Doe's several times. A "dive" is correct. The atmosphere is certainly different but the steaks are hard to beat. Thanks for posting.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!

Thanks for the ride along, Slab. Those steaks sure looked great. Someone should give a shout out to Guy Fiery and go for the DDD. Might make a good show!

Excellent review. Glad you had a wonderful time. Now the Crappie and the Pigeon is an endangered specie when Slab is near.

Before Washington got on the map with the big boy tournaments back about 20-25 yrs. ago it was a true gem . Fished iot with Magnolia club this past season and almost did not recognize it . Lots of buildings gone up since 1994 .

Fork was the same when it opened up , just flooded timber as far as the eye could see
one or 2 marinas and nothing else ,but a boat or 2 tied up in the trees with no transom on them .
