As a kid I fished for catfish, for that is what my grandfather taught me. They were good eating then and still are good eating. As a teenager I started fishing for bass, as that was all the cool fishermen chased. Then along came Bassmasters, when all the fools with their bad manners started fishing for bass with all the standards fishing etiquette of chased from their minds with their dreams of winning big money. Most never achieved their dreams but their rules of bad conduct on the lake remains to this day.
So I switched to fishing for bream and crappie as those who fished for these two classes of fish still were ruled by the standards of good fishing etiquette. Unfortnately the bad manners of bass fishing are now coming to crappie fishing with the advante of crappie tournaments and their dreams of big money.
So far there are no bream tournaments so you can still find good manners among those who fish for bream.
It's hard to match the fun of fighting a bull bream on an ultrlight rod and reel combo.
