    It takes a while to thaw , as long as it was encased in ice, no freezer burn. At that time they made do with what they had. Alot of them use the top off method. Catch one or two. Put them in the carton and cover with water, catch more tomorrow, add to the carton cover with water until you filled the carton.

    quart freezer bags for me , 4 to 6 fillets per with water and no air , laid flat in the freezer and will thaw in a new york minute .will last until almost forever best i can tell , i found some 4 or 5 years old in the bottom of our freezer not long ago ...
    tasted like i put them up last week
