My Dad lit the fire. I was a Fishing Facts subscriber from age 10 to 18 and I learned an awful lot from Charlie Brewer, Rex Grady, Buck Perry and others. I used to watch Virgil Ward and Bill Dance on TV. I got a lot from all of them and thank them all for helping feed my addiction & making me a better fisherman.

Mom was the one that loved to fish. Dad liked the idea of fishing just had no patience when they were not biting. Always work that needed done. Then all the people I have learned from here on crappie.com.

I learned by playing in Ten Mile Creek in Frisco Colorado as a kid. At 6 we played in mountain streams. Living at 9,100' elevation there wasn't much else to do, except explore old gold mines. We used to catch Trout by hand. We (younger brothers and I) figured out how to build traps to capture fish. Reach in and pull them out by hand. 12 years later I fixed bayonet and pulled Salmon out of the creeks on Adak Alaska. The Navy cooks would fillet it up and make use dinner.
6 years after that, a good Marine Corp friend (Crappie Professor) taught me how to fish for Crappie using bobber and minnow. Been doing it that way ever since.
