Try dropping lure size or presentation . Many times I have to try several pitches to get one to move . But if they chase but no bite sometimes best to move on .

When the follow a jig like that I flick the rod with my wrist and then let the bait free fall back to them. Sometimes this will trigger them to bite.

most always the followers want it to keep moving , they are like cats and often lose interest if it quits moving
but as mentioned sometimes if it stops and falls back to them they go for it .
seen that often on livescope myself , had a few follow it so far before they hit it ,that it defies imagination ,sometimes 10 feet or more

I try foul language, doesn't work but make me feel better! I'm with Slab less movement and hold it above them if you know their depth.

Same here...sometimes I'm amazed at how far up they will follow it without hitting. I keep saying that one of these days I'm going to get one to break the surface.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions (and some funny ones too). I'm going to add some hair jigs to my selection. Also may start keeping some minnows in the boat at all times.

My partner and I witnessed a lot of "followers" during our last trip. But, we weren't seeing them on the Livescope, but actually seeing them come up right next to the boat following our marabou Road Runners ... several even "shortlining" us less than 1ft under the surface. And these were bed guarding males, best we could determine .... and the boat was sitting in 12-15fow.

I even had a friend, that uses Livescope, tell me that "jiggling" the baits scared the fish away, only to turn around and do it (while fishing with him) and "made" the fish bite it.

Sometimes they can be "made" to bite by subtle changes in the presentation, size, color, etc. and sometimes they'll even turn up their noses at live bait.

I really have no special "tips/tricks" that I use, so if/when I see them looking it over but refusing to commit to biting it ... I usually just move to another spot and try there.
Yes at times changing will help but other times it's best to move on..... It's what I love about chasing these fish, there are no definites..... What worked yestdy could be stick in your tackle bag for another time or it could work.....A open mind to make changes or possibly repeat exactly what you were doing..... The biggest thing is GO FISHN......

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
