Default Tip to those that take a lot of digital pictures like I do

Do not let the camera get wet!
I fished a lake from a metal dock that slowly started to sink not having been secured yet by the park. Bad enough my shoes and small tackle box started filling with water but also the bag that
my digital camera was in. The camera was off but the circuits were destroyed and though it functioned a little after I got home, next day - nothing when it came to the controls or preview screen. Luckily I have a spare but ordered the same model-used, on eBay for $21, shipping included. Hopefully exterior defects are the only ones.

Put it into a jar filled with dry rice and let it sit for several days. I dropped a camera out side in below 0 weather. Found it the next morning and it was covered in frost. Tossed it onto the dash with defrost going wide open. It survived so maybe once completely dried out it may come back to life.

I wish it were so. The controls don't work (settings, flash off, fine detail, etc.) It's done and in the can but thanks for the suggestion along with rice-in-a-bag someone told me to try.

i typically only use a phone , and keep most everything in the photo realm on a a micro card in the phone along with my contacts .
the rest of whats in the phone aint important and i NEVER go over the 100 mark on a phone
but a blow dryer on a wet device quickly and some of those lil silicone bag things in a jar afterwards will help too
a bud jumped in a hot tub one night with all his clothes on and car remote and phone in his pocket
he of course had a bit more beer than he needed , but we got most of it working well again with this method

More then once forgot had my hearing aids in when got into the shower though not for long LOL. They survived but took awhile before they came back to life. I don't recommend testing them like that though. I leave them home when fishing as they tend to pop out when one falls in. Willed one set to the catfish and never got a note of appreciation!
