Good thing one size jig/hook did it all!
Today I taught a newbie finesse technique and showed him what various lure shapes looked like using the same retrieve. Quick learner! Once he learned on not to set the hook and play the fish (like he did with salt water fish), the boat count was up tp 65 before dark clouds and a 20 mph wind drove us off.

I learned a lot about crappie and their behavior at the candy store. It was a place that held mostly juvenile fish with a few keepers. 100 fish in a few hours was possible every time you pulled up to it. High pressure bluebird days that made fishing difficult elsewhere also had an effect on these fish and I learned about playing the color game. Size and action also mattered on these days but color was what I focused on. I used panfish assassins almost exclusively and had most every color made. There’s truth to the statement that color matters, but what I also found is that it is different in different areas. Where you fish and where I fish is the deciding factor. I’ve come to call that my “bag of tricks”. Having variations to offer when things get tough is what refines our craft. Lately I’ve gone to smaller baits than most folks would consider. Even with those they seem to tire of one color and will hit a different color with abandon. Stock up that bag of tricks and go figure em out, that’s what keeps us coming back.

These silly fish will absolutely ignore a jig that seconds ago they would hunt down with the slightest glimpse of it.....
The ole saying of well they feed good early this morning or the bite got good at this time or shut down then is just due to the fisherman not putting the work in that it definitely takes to keep crappie interested in what they are offering.....
I know I've read several post that color don't matter and they feel it's all about profile or action to the bait but I'm seeing and still hold my belief that color is one of the most important things in catching crappie..... Well not THE most important but really high on the list, 1st is definitely fishing where there's crappie.....
    What You Say?
Yep - same experience here. Saturday they couldn’t pass up monkey milk wiry chartreuse - Sunday they ignored that color but blue sky did the trick.

    ...... yet both are right

So question is how can both be right, and what should I expect to learn ?

I changed underwear. Maybe that's why the bite was so good yesterday!

Didn't change it today and look what I caught (45 total). (Would have been more but I don't know the lake yet.)

The best size perch and sunfish so far this year along with bass and pickerel - and on many colors !
Some of the colors used: clear tail, pumpkin, motor oil, watermelon with black flake, bright white, blue/blue flake with pearl tail.
