I myself have been Crappie fishing since I was able to hold a fishing pole, shoot that was all My Father used to catch was Crappie. So now at the age of 50, I have no problem figuring the Spieces out.
Every fishing trip I average 60 to 100 fish to weave out the keepers from the non keepers and have no issues reaching my 25 fish limit of keepers. Yesterday May 4, 2021, I caught 30 crappirs at 13 inches and released them cause they were full of eggs, however I kept all of the Big Males.. (see photo)
No I don't get Paid and No I don't have $$$ pouring from My pockets, heck I fish from a 1975 restored 12 ft. Sea King, but what I can tell you is that even with fishing from My Oldie but Goodie, I can give the pros Heck. In all actuality, its all about Enjoying Youself, while Enjoying Nature as Your Catching Slabs... Thanks Again!Attachment 400369

If you take all the high end electronics, out of the game. Then there are some on here, who I would bet on, hands down, could out fish the pros.

S10CHEVY: I totally agree with you, that's how I learned. Once I found out the when, the where, and learn the how. I was off to the races.
I just recently bought a humminbird piranhamax 4 di, and truth be told there is no real difference as far as My catch rate is concerned.

If you look at my tackle, I'm a pro. If you look at my results.... not so much!

I'm not sure, cause I get humbled on a regular basis. But when my bride wants crappie for dinner, its not a good day to be a crappie...

Kevin rightly put it...Pros get paid. For all that think they are as good as as the professional crappie fisherman wait until you have to catch fish to cash a check...pay the mortgage...put groceries on the table. When it becomes your profession everything changes.

The entry fee is the difference of pro vs average person. This was once a highly used quote from Ray Scott, B.A.S.S founder.

The word pro can mean professional or promotional. If you want to call yourself a pro by all means do so but I would call someone a professional who at the least has to report income from fishing to the IRS.

Promotional folks simply get free stuff and promise to promote the brand, a lot of promotional fisherman can be found on the internet.

It's all about sales and marketing, I think.
