Seems to me .....
There are some mighty confused fish in these parts . They came , they went and THEN ...
here they come again ! Go figure right .....
Back in Feb. they came in hard BIG and on it like they meant it . Then they slowed up and as typically seen the lilz showed up .
Couldn't ketch hardly a keeper in the mix , lots of just under colored up lil boys and fat baby girls . Sure a keeper or 2 in the mix and some were real nice ones too , but the mix of mostly big fish over 12 inches was gone .
Fast forward to yesterday May 2 , hit the windy side of a spot I like , 2 lil fat baby girl fish .
one in shallow one out deep . Lake came up about 4 feet and the water was looking really pretty good for all the rain and muddy water feeding it .
Thought I might hit the calm water side late before i hit the trail home . Nothing doing was the deal and THEN >>>>>
K A B O O M ! nice fat female in pretty short water of about 7 foot deep . Then again and as I once figured out , as the sun grew lower the march began . They moved shallower as the sun dropped and when I left there they were on fire in 3 to 4 feet of water !
Had a serious fish killer set up in hand and just hurt them nicely . A limits tackle on a 1/16 tied right to my heavy braid and this boy was a slinging them by golly .
Had to wade out to my spot as the water came up over my pathway and one lone fella was brave enough to do the same . Loaded his stringer up nicely and down the not so dusty trail I went .
He said thanks , glad you showed up , now I can tell everyone how I got into them good !
The fish hit it in bone jarring fashion and to be honest with ya it dont git much better with a 7 foot medium heavy crappie stick and a braid set up with 3 to 5 foot of line off the end of it .
KABOOM was me for sure ....
p.s. ever had an on fire pickle beer ? come to Texas and i will show ya one

They ain't done till THEY say they are so until then your best bet or shall I say bite is gonna come from starting shallow and working out deep.....
Nature's time table is not on time right now..... At least in our minds that is..... The animals 6th, 7th & 8th senses know what they are doing and gonna do..... We humans are not as smart as we'd like to think we are.....

Yep, I tell people all the time . Fish shallow when the water is rising.
Always some late to the party.
The peak is long gone in my area but after every good rain some move back in. 2-4ft deep.
That’s why they say NOT to put white crappie in a pond. They quickly over populate. Since they spawn so long.
