Just a little added protection from the elements that won't harm hose or metal. A corrosion prohibitor will do fine, too.
Aero Kroil "The Oil That Creeps" is without a doubt the best penetrant I have ever used, you just need to give it time to do it's thing, and DO NOT use on firearms as it could inert shells. I keep my Kroil on the top shelf in the back, and use the others on most stuff to save the Kroil for the really bad stuff.
Also would not be a bad idea to use anti seize on the threads to help the next guy that removes that part the next time - that could be you or me!
