Ulterras use a Hall Effect device to count how far it has "Trimmed" down. When first deployed it trims to it's last position in memory. If you want it higher or lower from there you just push a button, it goes up or down. Unlike a scissor mount the Ulterra mount is the same regardless of length of shaft. It uses a micro switch in the base to tell the control board when the motor is fully in the stowed position. Regardless of shaft length when the motor is moving to the fully stowed position it activates the micro switch stopping the trim drive motor in the correct spot. Actually this same micro switch is the root of a lot of Ulterra problems. It and dirt dobber nests.

I have a Tracker Targa 18 and it came with a 60 inch PowerDrive V2 on it. It works well so far.

Everyone has good points but it will stick out way too far from off side of boat when stowed.

Not if you mount it right my Ulterra is a 60 inch and it sits right above my gunwale when stowed. Depending on how you mount it you can put the head when stowed any where you want all depends of the angle to the boat.

The deaer also said he was checking with a Minn Kota service center about cutting down the shaft. Not sure about that one.
Just and FYI if this Ulterra is 2017 or older the spot lock is going to really suck.

    You are right.
Buddy had an older one and it would drift off spot lock as much as 20 ft and then kick back on and almost throw him out of the boat.
He ordered a new i-Pilot board for the head and it came with new style remote. After setting it up correctly it works fine.

FWIW, play with your boat scale setting on ipilot. Bought a new Powerdrive and was so dissatisfied first few trips using it. Couldn’t stay within 20 ft and would overcorrect constantly. I have a 1436 jon. Turned boat scale to -2 and it works much better now.
