At the time I joined Crappie.Com I owned a Lowe 170 boat and I was also riding motorcycles. My name was just kind of a play on words covering both hobbies.

In 2015 I walked 100 miles in under 24 hours. Became United States Centurion C78. Between then and the end of 2018 I joined all six Centurion clubs in the World. Only the fifth person to walked 100 miles under 24 at every club in the world.

Not a lot of thought put into mine either... Smith being my last name, friends have called me Smitty since about 3rd or 4th grade. And of course 39365 has been my zip code since birth.

Gotta say that of all the interesting threads I've read here, this one really stands out for me. Very cool to hear how others have come to their monikers. As for my own handle, please bear with me as I've been told that my Welsh heritage can occasionally lead me to be "loquacious to a fault".
A few years ago when I was in my early to mid 40's, I started smoking a pipe. Had researched it and based on what I found and my own observations (seemed like every old guy with a pipe that I spoke to, had been puffing for 20years or more), I came to the conclusion that there is a big difference between cigarettes and pipe smoking, and while no one is claiming tobacco is healthy for you, neither are big macs, soda pop, and diesel exhaust. So, one day I'm sitting in my back yard with my very first Missouri Meerschaum and a pouch of Prince Albert and my wife comes out and sits down beside me. She doesn't say much for a while (neither one of us had ever been smokers before), then after a bit she says "honey, I think you need to keep doing this". Somewhat surprised I asked her why, and she responded that she had been worried about my stress levels for some time, and she could see me visibly relaxing with every puff. I told her that I didn't think I'd been that stressed out, and she said "honey, you've been wound up so tight that when you fart, only the dog can hear it". So I wound up joining a pipe smoking site on line and discovered a great bunch of folks there with a drama free environment, and the handle I chose for myself there was Fumus, which as I understand it is Latin for "smoke". Incidentally, a couple years later the good Lord allowed some things to happen and I got to experience my very first bout of genuine depression. That was an eye opener. Let me tell you folks, it ain't just "feeling sad". Never had anything knock me on my back side like that before. Spent about a year just staring at a wall. Not happy not sad, "no I don't want to talk or do anything else really. Just leave me be" Worst part was it scared the heck out of my wife as she had never known me to not work. Eventually the good Lord brought me out the other side of it and I started working again and fishing for crappie (my dads favorite fish). Can't tell you how good it felt getting back to work, and crappie fishing is now my therapy.

I worked as a dental hygienist and had to explain to every new patient that I wasn't the doctor. Most had never seen a male hygienist and just kept calling me doc sam. I gave up and let them use that nickname. The second half is a tribute to my 3 children, who all are graduates of Vanderbilt University. They all did it on scholarships and student loans and what little mom and dad could help. I'm very proud of them and it's a small way to show that pride. Yes, they got there brains from there mother.

I got mine as a Kid growing up as Military dependent in So. California. Mom and dad took us kids to a drive in and a movie with Jamesdean was playing. After that my brother tagged me with the nickname, Jamesdean...that was in 1963.

This is a cool thread. Mine is simply descriptive. I have the imagination and creativeness of a rock. Local church pastor for 20 years. Bro. Kenneth is what everybody calls me.

Mine is self descriptive, didn't know much when I started fishing and still don't. I've learned a lot on here, but my mind keeps reverting to what I knew as a kid. When I get out on the water I forget everything I learn now so I'm still a WANNABE FISHERMAN

[Barnacle Bill]

I started off here with IBNFSHN. For some reason one day my old CB handle, Barnacle Bill, popped in my mind. This goes back to the early 60s when CB was just becoming popular. My first radio was a Knight kit which I had to put together. Does that jar any memories?

As a kid I remember an old corny poem

No M R geese....,

When I logged onto my first Internet forum, and had to register, I came up with “mrdux”. It stuck, so that’s what my KY License plate on my truck is
M R Dux. I was a waterfowl outfitter and guide for over 20 years.

D later changed it to M R Dux right before I was named 2018 Man of the Year. I think he might have been tipped off.

Many folks think it is Mr. Dux. Not.
