Yahoo! We went out tonight from 6 to 8:30, needed 32 to make it to 500,didn't think I would be able to make it happen, but stuck with it and got to 40 right at dark. an amazing amount of fish are on beds in the smooth sand with new plants growing up. My goal is 1000 again this year, and I am ahead of last year and half way there. Glad we went late, there is a 230 boat green carp tournament going on.
Big grin on #500, the last photo.

Those are some really nice Cali crappie. I don't count mine but so far I haven't even caught 100. California is the land of giants.
stay at it my friend , not sure about out there , but the numbers of crappie in the water here are staggering .
to get hammered by the birds and fishing folks all the time and still be in numbers that defy reality , suggests stupid high populations are present .
them fish sure are pretty , congrats and

Thank you guys for the encouragement, yes, it boggles my mind how many get taken home, and the population can still be high. Or how many can be on the spawning areas now, and be so tough to find in winter. Scary to think about how sensitive the cycle is, but I will appreciate it. The size amazes me too. We catch some 11" fish, but its nearly more common to catch a 15" fish than an 11"! Any tips you might have for me to go search for some real giants? We have been catching a lot at 15", and I'm not complaining, but bigger fish are out there, and another full moon is coming.
