Ed/Slab/bossman/CEO/head honcho...whatever YOUR called! What an obviously successful post you had to bring out some input from a few of the more "quiet" members! Back on subject =some 50 years ago in my homestate of MD., I saw the subject fish being commercially sold in a public marketplace(non-chain store). They were properly displayed on ice, behind glass, sold whole for 1.50 lb. The black magic markered hand- written sign said Strawberry Perch.

I watch basically any YouTube video I can on crappie fishing. From ice fishing, to trolling with planner boards, to pushing cranks. I notice lots of northerners like to pluralize them and call them Crappie(s). It's kind of funny to me. But in Tennessee we just call them crappie. But one could also say they are stubborn, illusive, hardheaded... Most thinks a women will say about a man.
