Default Minn Kota electric anchor question

I have the Deck Hand 40 that came on the boat I bought last summer. Before I bought it, never had just one person used the boat so the placement of the anchor wasn't an issue when dealing with the winch strap and getting in/out of the boat. I took it off for the reason I just described plus it wasn't working(I've since had it repaired). I had said unless I fell in love with it I'd sell it but I want to try it before I do. My question is has anyone with this anchor mounted it on the back of the boat? It's the only place I would ever want it if it's not much trouble. Thanks!!

I have deck hand 40 also , one in the front of the boat and one on the back ,both are mounted on quick release plates . Both have Minn-Kota trolling motor plugs on them so removal is easy if needed . Both are hooked up to remote switches located by steering wheel so anchors can be raised or lowered from drivers seat . I don't use them often because the water is so deep in the lakes I fish . I will try and post some pictures not sure how to do that .

I have one on the back. Works great. Actually, if you anchor from the back, there is much less wave noise against the boat. It's probably not the safest thing though, a big wake could come over the transom.

I had two new ones put on pontoon and TM from previous owner, used it once then passed. First year worked great but then have been nothing but PIA since when they suddenly slow down and then quit working. from research online apparantly common issues and they are not very reliable and quit fooling with them and removing them.

I must have got the only good one...Bought in 2005...still working...never had a problem. But mine is wired direct to the battery with 8 guage wire, maybe thats the difference...dunno.

The 2 I have were put on the boat in 2003 , have had zero problems with them . That being said have not used them as much since moving to Tennessee , but from 2003 to 2014 they were used a lot .
