Default A slice of humble pie

Thought maybe it settled enough since the recent weather change enough to hit a spot that was real good 10 or so days ago .
Went for the long walk with 2 of my buds to get on them right before dark . I walked up to a 2 foot rise in the water that bud 1 said was yeah it came up a little .
That made me think uh oh .....then I touched the jig after I pitched it a few times and uh oh again ...it was cool to the touch .
Of course it could get worse , I went to spot old faithful and had lost around 15 feet of shallow shoreline and couldn't reach the open water rock pile casting .
Bud one never got a peck , I finally got one and it was a yellow bass .
Bud 3 found 4 crappie though and that came as no surprise as he has way more patience than I .
he downsized and I failed to do so and he was more patient on a spot that I hit twice than I was as well ,a cormorant gave that spot up and I just failed to get bit with a larger bait there .
None the less such is the way it goes sometimes and never say never , sometimes I think I have a plan and in this case it was the WRONG one .....
The sunset was nice and the turkey were gobbling and the coyotes were losing their there coyote minds .
I will possibly rethink my next spot more carefully today or tomorrow ,but until then ....
A slice of humble pie please with that coffee
from the bank there is a thing I have come to know quite well ....
no person alive is bullet proof in this type of scenario ....
and then the wife said ....why on earth did you stay if they were not biting ?
I said honey ,because I had to keep trying ,its what I do ....
and in the end NO KABOOM is the word

Beautiful pic! Your story is certainly applicable to some of us! I am concerned about this front that is just now coming through... going to cool things off temp-wise for several days. Oh well, maybe I will get some things done, lol. Other than fishing.

I often have that bullet proof train of thought , sometimes it will bite you in the seat of your pants though .
Some think I am arrogant ,but it is most assuredly confidence . In this case my confidence was shot down and riddled with bullet holes and in the end I looked like swiss cheese ....a classic case of body armor failure no doubt

Well, I think that sunset made the trip more than worthwhile. Nice story even if sans fish,

that spot will produce some memorable sunsets more often than not .
but it also typically produces so many large crappie you barely get a chance to notice it ....
much less get the time to get a photo of said event

I took one more sunset photo as I walked aimlessly down the bank trying to keep my tail from getting caught between my legs btw

Great story, sometimes we need days like that to learn, and to make the good days Great.
