Have never had much luck using slip bobbers over jigs but that finally changed Saturday. It was really fun to watch that bobber pop. Had a very productive couple of hours once we found what they wanted! Keep Learning!

This is the jig we were using. I just use Thread bobber stops from renegade and Wally jigging cork. Have seen others that I think I like better but never did it enough to worry about it.

I haven't been doing this very long but think I find more important than jig color to catch crappie is time of day. Never get to the Res early enough in the morning but get there noon or later I don't do any good at all. About 3pm everyday the fishing picks right up! Im thinking it's probably good in the morning too but trip to the res is over 70 mi and two hour drive. One thing I have learned of value though is that crappie caught after 3pm eat really good! :-)

Do you guys really catch them on chartreuse jigs? Only color I've never caught them on!

Don I would agree, just on this day I had a shad color on and switched to the one pictured and never changed again. I definitely agree about time of day at this time of year.
