Is there anyone that makes/pours with gamakatsu hooks?

Probuilt makes one with a #1 Gamakatsu, the Minnow rider, but its just a ball head with no collar or keeper.

If you want the sharpest jig heads produced....bar none....take a look at the Daiwa Gekkabijin jig heads. They are as sharp as a hypodermic needle. I also have jig heads with Gamakatsu and while they are sharp I’ve seen nothing to approach the sharpness of the Daiwa jig heads.

    Regards

Not that I know of. I got mine out of Japan. Expensive and even though they are not as sharp as the Daiwa jig heads they will flat stick you. I’ve never seen any hooks as sharp as what the Japanese use on their light game jig heads.

    Regards

I can but don't usually for crappie. Expensive hooks when you lose a bunch.

I don’t care for too sharp a hook after having to dig out a couple of those eagle lazed sharpened deals,,,just too sharp for humans like myself

I have tried just about every brand of jig hooks trying to find the sharpest because I also fish for lake trout with UL gear and they have bony mouths. Almost all of the japanese brands are sharp including the daiwa saqsas hooks found on their jig heads (also have a fluorine coating) and the more available brands in the USA e.g.trokar and vmc.I also like the wide gap and short shank for pouring my own sizes. The 2 sharpest for me have been the gamakatsu football 24 1/2 oz and smaller which are proprietary hooks made in japan only found on those heads (new hooks now made in thailand) and the jackall tungsten wacky head which has a proprietary 1/0 wide gap short shank hook from owner. Out of all of the hooks, these two are my favorite. Because of the xtra fine wire which allows the razor point, on heavy tackle they can bend out around 8lbs of pressure. My drag is set at 2 lbs so never had one bend out except on a snag.
