Loop knot. For me spider rigging is no different than casting or jigging straight down, you're just moving.
Hello all I was wondering what knot would be best to use for spider rigging with jig heads. I usually tie jigs on with a small trolling loop knot. I was wondering if I tie a tight knot like a clinch knot to the jig head would that be better in helping the jigs keep their vertical presentation when slow trolling about .2 mph? What your preference?

I don't "spider rig" ... but, for the most part, I use a Improved Clinch knot when tying line to the jig. About the only time I use a loop knot is when I'm pre-making leader lines for Pushing ... loop knot on one end & jig tied with the Improved Clinch knot on the other. I have a duo-lock snap on the end of my main line, to attach the trolling weight to, and another one on the other end of the trolling weight to attach the loop knot of the leader line.
Oddly enough, when snagged and the leader line breaks, it normally either breaks at the loop knot or within a few inches of it. I've yet to have the line break at the Improved Clinch knot on the jig. (leader line is 6# test mono)

Loop knot always
I’m new so.....but you could try tying a UNI knot. It will cinch down tight, but if you use your fingernail you can back it off leaving a loop knot. Then see which the fish prefer. If you catch one on the UNI loop, it will tighten down on it’s own.
I suspect you will find that each jig type will have its own preference for holding on the horizontal. If you discover something speak up as I am learning.
Maybe they will bite this one……buggypaulus5 thanked you for this post
Loop knot. I think the hook needs a bit of play to help movement.

I use the motion for the loop knot but instead of flipping the line off the eye and making the loop I cinch it down to the eye. Makes a really strong knot

Loop to jig head, cinch knot to swivel.
