Well I was sure hoping the that deep freeze we just had would keep them to a minimum this season, sounds like it that ain't going to happen.

hopefully the super cold weather we had killed off some of the ticks/mosquitos around here.

They are the reason I gave up bank fishing and bought a boat. I used to love sneaking up on spots quietly and catch the fish off guard. The ticks won. I boat fish now.

Being a trapper,we deal with them evil little things year round. They live off the critters we catch even in the coldest weather. Our canines are full of them. One way to deal with them is putting the canines in a garage bag and spray flea and tick killer in the bag,tie the bag shut for awhile before we skin them. You still have to be careful and watch for live ones. We still get bit every year and a trip to the dr.

Boy PAT, that sure is a hazard of the job. Ticks just seem to be much more of a disease spreader than they were when I was young.

Hateful things. Thanks for the reminder.

My Dad and a coworker caught lymes. Daddy made it ok but the coworker had to take disability from arthritis

Ever heard of Alpha-Gal? Lone Star tick bite...transmits a sugar molecule called alpha-gal into your body. In some, this triggers an immune system reaction that later produces mild to severe allergic reactions to red meat. I have it. I went to allergy clinics for years to no avail. Last episode...severe reaction...it was starting to wane. I remembered what I ate that night...hot tamale and chili (full house). I googled allergic reaction to red meat....the rest is history. Had my doctor do a blood test...positive for alpha-gal. The allergic reaction is nothing short of torture...a couple of times I actually thought I was going to die. No red meat for well over a year now. An epi-pen will work...but now I take a beta blocker which renders the epi-pen ineffective.
