There are lots of fork tail baits so posting a picture would go along with at answering your question.
My fishing buddy has been at it a lot longer than I have and has a lot more fishing stuff than me. He's been having success this Spring with a shad colored plastic jig body that has a forked tail. He showed me his stock and they are just in a plain plastic bag with nothing to identify them. He's had them a long time and has no idea what they are called or where he got them. They are around 1.75" long and have a very realistic looking forked tail. It looks very much like a fish's tail ought to look. I don't have a picture, but if anyone needs a picture I will do my best to come up with one. Does anyone have any idea where I could find something similar? Thanks
GF

There are several choices for fork tail baits. I prefer Crappie Magnets. Hang horizontal and live action tail. Early in the year, in cold water below 60 degrees, I don't even move them. Dead stick straight down 10-12 ft. Natural boat movement will provide the action

I would check out Bob’s Jigs and Limits Tackle which are both sponsors here on cdc. I know Limits Tackle showed some on the “LIVE” SK Crappie Catching Adventures on YouTube last night.
I've used Lunker City Fin-S Fish 2.5" forked tail minnows ... many years ago ... and had pretty good success with them.

Jenko Mermaid maybe?
Steve over at Limits tackle makes some that are tournament proven long lasting plastics .
I give them away periodically and did just this week on Sk's "live" show .
Here are 2 of the sizes he offers and there is a larger size as well .
He will pour just about any color you might be interested in .
