Purchased a used boat and looking for a new lowrance yo pair w motor guide. Any suggestions? Don't want to break the bank. Only must is spot lock as tm didn't come w that feature. Thanks

What trolling motor do you have?

I'm pretty sure that anchor mode(spot lock) for motor guide is a function of the trolling motor. I had an Xi5 paired with HDS7 Gen 2 on a NEMA network.

I have the xi5 but I believe the previous owner did pay the extra money to include that feature, if I understood him correctly. But then again I'm new to this.

the easiest way I can think of to tell if it has the GPS is to see if it has the satelitte icon lit up when it is power up. Third icon from the left on the pic in the link below.

After doing a little research. Here is another way to tell if it has the GPS installed.

If it is installed there will be a smaller diameter coiled cord inside the larger coils that go from the mounting base of the motor to the head of the unit. The smaller coil is for the GPS that gets mounted in the head.

Here is the link to the GPS kit from Lowrance. You can see the smaller coiled cable. A little spendy if you need it at $450 but doesn't look all that hard to install if need be.

I believe almost all the Lowrance models will pair with the pinpoint/spot lock. Check out the reveal, elite, or HDS.

If you ever think you will upgrade to the new Lowrance livesight you may want to spend a little extra now on a compatible unit.
