With all this sub-zero temps and snow I'm really bored and wanting spring Crappie season to hurry up!!
It's got me thinking about upgrading my Crappie arsenal. Right now I use a Micro Lite 6'6", Buck’s Graphite Jig Pole 8', and a J.B. Salter custom jig pole 10'...I think when JB was alive he used B'n'M blanks. Also a couple of my lighter Bass rods...but not ideal for Crappie.
I cast and jig mainly but would like to learn to "dock shoot" some. I've tried it a couple of times but never spent time to really learn it. I don't want a "spider rig" setup with poles that can reach from Kansas City to St Louis! If I ever decide to try it I'll look for those later.
I want 6'-7'6", as sensitive as I can get (feel a Crappie breath on my jig), with enough backbone to swing a 3# Crappie into the boat. IF the planets ever aligned and I caught one that big!
I'll be using 1/16 - 1/8oz terminal tackle on 4# - 6# line. But could use a 1/32oz on occasion or light braid with fluorocarbon or mono leader.
I want the best quality and most sensitive rod I can get in the below price range.
I will stay in what I consider a medium price range $50 - $100, of course lower is better.
I hear a lot about ACC Crappie Stix...anyone have experience with them? What others would you recommend that is better than what I'm using?
Thanks!
I'm really partial to the Berkley Lightning Rod, 6' 6" one piece medium. Fast tip with plenty of backbone, tough as heck and only $40. I use them for almost everything.
Outlaw Crappie poles 7' 2" classic is one of my favorites as well, the sensitivity is excellent, but they're quite a bit whippier, don't have the backbone that a lot of other mediums do.

I rod that is ultra sensitive ain't gonna swing a fish that big.
I love my Leland TCB for most of your specs.
I have been looking hard at the pro angler tackle rods. Some of their 6' stuff. And definitely their 16' troll rods.
