For Crappie, Perch, Bluegill or any application you would use a "Store bought" slip float.. Here is how I make mine. Each finished slip float is about 1/2" wide and 4" in length. Cut or trim the finished slip float to your own design or shape you like with the same serrated knife. They are much lighter than a quill float. You can use any size egg sinker below the slip float from bb's to 1/4 oz for casting distance and this float will not sink. Rig it with bobber stops and a bead just as you would do any slip float. You can easily handcraft more than 175 slip floats from a One Dollar pool noodle at the Dollar Tree store. They take seconds to make and are indestructible. I fish mine on four or six pound test line. It has been rated three thumbs up! by the Special Forces Crappie Assassin Unit.

the weighted ones do change the dynamics of the jig weight for sure

That is a pretty neat solution, Ship. As Ketchn said, not a big loss $ wise if you lose one. Thanks for the idea!
