When we type that there word, other than float, it isn't recognized. Wonder why, since it has been used for as long or longer that I am old, at 69 years.
Mostly slip bobber is all I really know much about. I like small floats too. What I use are 3/4" round cork. Plastic insert through the hole in the center. That reel one turn and rest should work good with them. It would pull the jig up a bit reeling then let it fall again when you stop. Gonna try that this year if we get any water in the reservoir!
I rarely use a float while crappie fishing.
I like to feel the thump and the cover on my surrounding lakes make floats tough to fish with long pole.
But wait.. I plan to try some floats during the spawn this year while wade fishing, using short 4 ft ultralight gear where a long pole becomes a handicap.
But come bluegill weather when the crappie bite has slowed.
I love a weighted float with ultralight rod and Diawa gold cast reel and hand tied tiny black jig.

Sometimes I fish 10' or more, this is the kind I use :Thill Pro series Float. It has a copper insert on top to make the line slip easier .

And if you buy the ones, with a weight on them, they will help you cats further.
I just use the smaller pool noodle slip floats that I make.
