Not a bad idea at all. I would give it more serious consideration myself except I fish Sam Rayburn and that is one big lake. That and I have a great boat!

I had a 2014 G3 v172c with a 90 yamaha previously.
I doubt you'll find any good deals on used Deep Vs in Minn and WI.. They've been bringing a premium for a long time up here.

Yes the outboard is lighter, but every trip to the gas pump makes the wallet lighter too. Lol. I am older now and appreciate an engine that starts up immediately and runs so quiet. I love mine. Yes, if I were chasing ditch pickles in tournaments, I might feel differently. I'm in a deep vee and while 40mph isn't going to get me from New Orleans to the great lakes in 5 minutes, I, and my back, are okay with that.

I don't think there's going to be any measurable decrease in used boat prices until this fall. There were so many more first-time boat owners this year that we can all attest to who were out on the water this summer. This also resulted in a surge in demand for boat storage and many mechanics were out a couple of months for winterizations and normal fall maintenance last fall. I think some unexpected springtime repair bills for newer owners that didn't put their boats to bed for the winter or store them properly will cause some to exit the market before the next winter. Owning a boat isn't exactly cheap so I think a lot of people won't want the long term money commitment when they don't have as much time to fish in the coming year as they did during this past summer.

I looked for a used walleye boat for quite some time and you're right, they hold their value well compare to other types of rigs. Good luck with the search.

New boat orders are being taken now and delivery is creeping into summer months. We haven't hit prime order season yet. This won't settle for a couple years. Families are discovering the outdoors in a big way. Campers are sold out, bikes, quads, all recreation is selling out. Campgrounds and lakes are going to be busy this year again.

I waited to buy a boat thinking Covid would cause some fire sales. Boy was I wrong, the use market has gone thru the roof. I just upgraded my little Pelican Predator and will fish out of it until these prices come down.

I got lucky. I've been boat shopping for a couple of years. I was one week from pulling the trigger on a new boat at my local dealer. A fishing buddy linked a used boat for sale to my facebook page. The guy couldn't sell it two years ago. All he wanted was what he owed on it. We came to an agreeable price. It was the exact model and had all the options I wanted, just 4 years old. He has 50 hours on it. It's sitting in my garage while I put on new electronics, trolling motor, etc.
The only thing I would have ordered different is the motor. He has a 75 Etec and I would have gone 90 Etec. However, Etec isn't an option these days and would have ended up with a Mercury. I looked up the specs and there is a 2mph difference between the 75 and 90 Etec on this boat. Evinrude has power ratings for each hp on different models. The Etec 90Ho would be about 6mph faster. However it's a fishing boat.

Deals are out there, you just have to look and put the word out with friends and family. Then give it time and jump on the first decent boat that comes along.

Followed with interest the online auction of my late nephews Bass Tracker TX 17 with a 50 horse that was a 2009 model.....auction ended last night. The 11 year old boat brought 12,000 bucks plus the buyer paid a 10 percent buyers fee. So that adds up to 13,200 bucks for an 11 year old boat with antique trolling motor and sonar.....and is under powered.......crazy. My nephew paid 7500 bucks for it 2 years back.
