Power Poles vs Minn Kota Talons

Not sure if this is in the right forum, but was wondering who prefers what. I do mainly single pole livescoping on our local lake. 75% of the time I’m fishing edge of river channel, 8-15 feet of water. I’m currently interested in the 15 foot Talon which would fit my style of fishing better than the 12’ power poles. Storage is also an issue, and I know I can get the bracket for the talons to make them fold down towards inside of boat. Biggest question is I’m wondering from any of you experienced guys on how well the talons work on muddy bottom lakes. I’ve been told if much mud builds up on the spike then it can cause issues when raising as far as cables and such go. Just looking for some good opinions from everyone. Thanks!

No experience with talons but I'm convinced they are not worth the price and headache.

Take it as my .02...I would much rather upsize the spot lock trolling motor and batteries. You mentioned river channel but I'm not sure if river current is a big deal. I like a gps anchor from most standpoints.

Thanks! Current isn’t really an issue. Guess I’m just being hard headed. I really don’t want to mount my livescope transducer onto a separate pole, and if I would have it on say an ultrex, when I would use spot lock it’d constantly be turning back and forth and not staying keyed onto the structure I am fishing.

If the livescope is an issue then look up Low Pro rod rack or All Aboard livescope mount that attaches to your trolling motor. Custom made for ultrex and allow you to adjust the livescope independent of the trolling motor without a separate pole. Trust me if you struggle with it someone has a gadget to try and fix it!

power poles with the paddles ....the REALLY serious professional crappie folks use them ....
trust me on this ....if you use livescope and fish open water you want them ....
for positive for sure ....drift socks on steroids is a better description ....
