I have a set of southern crappie rods in the 143t they do great power trolling with the heavier weights they do ok spider rigging with the lighter weights but not as sensitive as others... I have a set of bnm Capps and Coleman’s 14’ they are the most sensitive rod I have found but they take some getting used to cuz they are pretty limber! My all around favorite that I use most are ozark rods... the Tony Edgar signature series they are awesome bud unfortunately they have changed the model and I don’t know anything about the new ones

Using a long rod allows you to extend the bait farther from the boat reducing your chances of spooking the crappies. So it is best to use a 14′ rod when fishing clearer water. Most lakes, ponds, and reservoirs have fairly clear water. It may look dark and dirty from the top but when you enter the water swim down about 10 feet and look up, you can see shadows and figures moving. Most crappie anglers use 14′ poles in tournaments when spider rigging because crappies bite a lot more on longer rods.

Most tournament fishermen around here used 16-18 ft. Rods until livescope came along. I have a set of 14s and a set of 16s. The 16s consistently catch more fish. And that’s in Muddy Grenada.

Agree on the 16’s. I started with 12’s went to 14’s and then 16’s. I consistently catch more fish with 16’ poles.

I'm a little bit on the cheap side about Denali 14 foot and 16 foot trolling rods I push 2 oz spider rigging and I also use the same rods pulling crankbaits off the back so I don't have a boat load of all kinds of poles
